Held the fourth full weekend in September. Thousands attend this Scottish festival experience with demonstrations of Scottish country dancing, horseshoeing, Border collies, sheep sheering, authentic Scottish food, and more. Competition in athletics, Highland dancing, piping and drumming. 9 am to 4 pm.
- Baby Boomers Bash (May) Info: 334.240.4666
Held on the second Saturday of May, this free, annual event, sponsored by the Central Alabama Aging Consortium, is geared toward providing information for the future and entertainment from the past for the hundred thousand 50-year-old plus baby boomers in Central Alabama.
- Shops
The Museum Shop, in the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts, features items related to touring and permanent exhibits in the Museum, and a variety of gift items for special occasions and holiday seasons, as well as engagement calendars and books. The Museum Shop offers free local delivery, ships out-of-town, features a personal shoppers service, and has complimentary gift wrap. It is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 am to 4:30 PM and Sunday from 1 to 4 PM. 334-244-5763.
The Festival Shop, in the Alabama Shakespeare Festival, features unique gifts, apparel, souvenirs, music, art, books and other merchandise related to Shakespeare and other classical and regional playwrights offered at the Alabama Shakespeare Festival. The shop is generally open on performance days Tuesday through Sunday. Visitors can also shop on line.
- Montgomery Ballet

The Montgomery Ballet's Annual gift to the city takes place lakeside when more than 5,000 gather on blankets, chairs and with picnic baskets in front of the performing stage. The mid-August performance is the culmination of the annual, intensive two week seminar at the Montgomery Ballet School. The two-night performances feature original works by the company's professional dancers.

The Montgomery Symphony Orchestra performs favorite Broadway show tunes and pops classics lakeside in the park. Attended by more than 10,000 people who spread blankets and bring lawn chairs, this free, annual event brings people of all ages to the park for a picnic and evening under the stars.

- First Fridays
Join the MMFA and the Alabama Jazz & Blues Federation for First Fridays. Come to the Museum for a relaxing evening of jazz in an artful setting. 6:30 to 8:30 PM. For more information, call 334.240.4333.

Often characterized as "The Museum's Gift to the Community," the Flimp Festival is held each year on the first Saturday in May. The celebration of art, creativity, imagination and humor takes place on the Museum's grounds within the Blount Cultural Park between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Flimp Festival activities include the Do Dah Parade of Pets (held in association with the Montgomery Humane Shelter), Artists' Avenue, the Art Making Tent, Art Cars, Kite Flying and the Museum's puppet show for pre-schoolers, "Shape Up Little Schmoozie". Specialty foods and entertainment are also offered throughout the day.
- Summer Art Sampler
The annual Summer Art Sampler is a warm-weather feast for the senses planned around a current Museum temporary exhibition. It features fun and activities for the entire family, as well as a thematic supper al fresco on the Museum grounds.
- Holiday Open House (December)
The Museum annually hosts this reception honoring the Holiday Season complete with children's choirs, art making activities for children and a never ending supply of punch and cookies. The Holiday Open House on the first Saturday in December is a chance for all the members of the family to enjoy the Museum exhibitions and activities together, and to nourish that Holiday spirit.
- Military Open House
Members of the armed forces stationed at Maxwell/Gunter Air Force Base are invited to explore the Museum and its programs with their families. Every year numerous military personnel contribute time as volunteers or monetary support to the Museum through membership or program participation. The Military Open House is our way of saying "thank you" to the armed services personnel who spend a part of their duty in Montgomery with their community museum.
